How find the contour , record coordinate sequence and downsampled it .

Hi I have an image with some objects in it. I need to find this objects(done) and later 1.I need to find boundaries of this objects and save its coordinate sequence. 2.This coordinates(sequence of points) i would like to downsample into 40 points of roughly equal arc length.

In first point i tried bwtraceboundary,but i dont no have to work with coordinate sequences.

First use bwboundaries() instead of bwtraceboundary, then use John D'Errico's interparc: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/?term=authorid%3A679 to do the subsampling into equal length sub-segments.
