Why Arduino motor shield ?

Hi,

I've not Arduino package but I see that is recommended Arduino motor shield from this link:

Does it mean there are Matlab/Simulink commands/blocks only for that shield ?

Can I use other motor shield (like Adafruit) with matlab ?
