Adding a specified Z component to the cylinder command

Hello,

I am trying to create a group of cylinders either as a mesh or using the cylinder command. My only problem is when I mesh my code it is not creating what I want. It is creating several triangles that are only 2D, not a 3D cylinder. Also, when I use the cylinder command, I am not able, or can not figure out how, to change the z coordinate. I would like my cylinders to be a specified height. How can I fix these things? Thank you!
