problem to get read data from CSV file or .xls file or .txt file

Hallo there i have basically .csv file (energ_use.csv)file, i want to read these given data into Matlab to manipulate and forecast for weekdays from first week historical data to following week same day and so on Month and year. but a the beginning i am facing a bit problem to read sperately as column.CSV file in exact format in Matlab.but i can not, so i have decided to change csv file to xls file and then xls to .txt file then i was able to read as column but still i have face problem to get exact date and time setp as its original.

can anyone help me to solve this problem ? here is data in txt file and showed in matlab

If you want to solve the problems of the CSV-file import, show us, which command you used and explain the occurring problems with more problems than just "I cannot". What does "to read sperately as column" exactly mean?

The conversion to XLS and to TXT is very likely not useful, because Matlab can import CSV-files directly.

Hi Simon ,thank you very much for your answer. i appreciate your answer, here i am trying to explain the problem well i have some data originally in .csv file Datum; Verluste kWh 01.01.2011 00:15; 242 . . . n..........n.........n like this 35041 entry. but in csv shows all in single column. Actually data would be separate 3 column like "date" "verluste/time step" and "kWh" . so i want to get these data exactly same format in 3 column in as 3 variable. for that i tried copy these csv data to .txt file and then tried to read using "s=load ('eng.txt');" but after reading txt file i got date like this "1.01000000000000 " for date which must be 1.11.2013 second is the time step that has 4 interval for each hour which return"0 or 1or 2...n" for each four step "00:15" "00:30" "00:45" "1:00:" "1:15"......"23:45" for 24 hours. as i mentioned earlier i would like to get these data in one column date and second column time step.

I hope you understand my explanation if not wold you please give me your email i will send you data and code to see how its is after reading .txt file. thanks

What we need is a short section of the file pasted and formatted precisely as it is in the external file. To get rid of the annoying word wrap in the response window, put two blanks in front of the first line--that's the "keyword" that is interpreted as Matlab code. Then you can make the preview window look like you want/need for it to.

There's no reason a csv file or a text file can't be read easily w/o any other machinations.
