I've tried Edge Detection using Canny & Sobel Operators in my code, however, it doesn't give very clear results. The pipeline images are from actual industrial settings and so they have discolouration due to environmental factors corrosion, rusting etc. Is there another way to detect grooves in pipelines and to get their dimensions ?
