How do I make the Command window show up in the Mac version?

I am running r2012b.

You are not supposed to be able the close the Command window in the first place. What happens when you start MATLAB, nothing? Tell us more about the symptoms you are seeing.
I only see the editor, so I can run the program but not see the output

Perhaps you minimized the command window? If so then go over to the dock and control-click the MATLAB icon. A list of windows associated with that instance will be shown, and you can click on the appropriate one to make it appear (including switching to an appropriate desktop if you have somehow bound the window to a desktop that is not currently visible.)

As of R2026a, I find that MATLAB for MacOS Silicon initializes with the command window hidden.
The work-around I found is to click on the Layout portion of the tool strip, and from there click on the Command Window menu entry.
