not getting the correct graph

hello sir,i m trying to do some coding.and i have written the code for plotting the graph like below: suppose
L=45.8471
the code i ve written is
ylabel('life');
title('maximum');hold on;grid on;
bar(L);
my problem is i am getting such a graph whose y axis value is correct but in x axis instead of coming in a bar form it is coming in a expanded version i mean covering the whole area.i want it in a particular instant .plzz help..is there any method to represent it in percentage form in y-axis.??plzz help sir.

Have you tried Walter suggestion bar(G ./ sum(G) .* 100)

yes sir.i tried this.but the graph is coming something like,its covered the whole area.i mean i m getting such an blue color image covering the total x-axis & y-axis.if u dont mind sir plz give me ur mail id i will send u the image i m getting as i cant attach the image here.plzz help .expecting a favorable reply.
