Intersting that there is no option for "I never use it" which is what I would choose currently

For ages, the code we wrote was the code we wrote -- good, bad, or embarrassingly bad. If we didn't know what we were doing, it was our opportunity to learn. If we thought we knew what we were doing, it was our opportunity to be humbled -- now or in five years time.
Vibe coding is negligibly less irresponsible than copy-pasting the first unexamined bash one-liner returned from a google search. What used to be behavior worth open ridicule has now become common practice. You're not learning anything, and you're trying really hard to shoot yourself in the foot. It seems absurd to presume that everyone wants to go down that road. Maybe I'm not cynical enough to assume something so awful.

Not even an option to say I don't use it by choice lol

I've found it can be useful to poke at program areas/toolboxes haven't had experience with as it can/will dig through doc/examples much more quickly that would take a lot of time/effort manually. If really were coding "in anger", would still need to do the background work, but for just initial exploring, it seems (mostly) helpful

I give it about 5 minutes roughly every 6 months before I get bored again.

Where is the 'Never, eventhough my work allows it' option?

Polls on this site can only have up to six options. AI is used in many different ways, enough that a thorough poll would have much more than just six options.

I understand that there are limitations and that this poll may not even be intended to be thorough, but the way this one is phrased assumes that everyone at leasts want to use AI in one way or another. Even switching out "It is not allowed for my work" option for something more neutral like "never", might have resulted in a better representation of with what frequency the MATLAB user base uses AI.

You raise a valid point and I will keep it in mind for future polls. Unfortunately, changing any of the options on the poll once it is live resets counts; I cannot remember if it resets counts for all options or only those that are changed.

Frequently. I use AI tools regularly to assist with writing MATLAB code, including developing algorithms, debugging programs, optimizing code, creating simulations, generating App Designer interfaces, and preparing documentation. AI helps improve coding efficiency, reduce development time, and support learning of advanced MATLAB functions and toolboxes.
