Survey on Scientific/Engineering File Format Usage

Hi everyone
Some of my colleauges at MathWorks are conducting a survey on how people use science and engineering file formats such as NetCDF, HDF5, Zarr and so on.
It will only take a few minutes to fill out and is completely anonymous unless you want to be contacted. Your thoughts, details of usage in your domain or industry, and current friction points will help us improve MATLAB to better support the kind of work you do in the future!
If there's anything not covered by the survey that you'd like to mention, feel free to reply to this thread.
Cheers,
Mike

We miss a built in parser for YAML and TOML in MATLAB.

This isn't built into MATLAB yet, but we released a File Exchange toolbox last week for working with YAML/TOML files: MATLAB Toolbox for TOML and YAML - File Exchange - MATLAB Central
We would appreciate any feedback on the readyaml/writeyaml, readtoml/writetoml functions, and the YAMLData/TOMLData objects in the toolbox. We've followed a different approach from built-in functions like readstruct/writestruct to provide improved supported for hyphenated key names like "build-system" that are common in YAML and TOML files.

When you say "We" is that MathWorks?
The noew released MATLAB R2026b uses TOML files to define projects.
So somewhere in MATLAB there is a parser for TOML files.
I just want a similar experience to JSON with no external tools.
