Motion sensing sonar-based sensors and proprietary data acquisition and analysis systems are in common use in university-level introductory physics laboratories. Students with access to a computational environment can learn more by analyzing the data themselves. This script illustrates how to students can apply nonlinear regression to processed motion sensor data locating an oscillating glider. It may interest students and instructors of physics and engineering. A few 'Try this' suggestions are included for further exploration.
