The use of a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to enhance voltage stability in a power system.
This MATLAB code showcases the implementation of a STATCOM, which is a device used for reactive power control in electrical networks to enhance voltage stability. The code defines system parameters such as nominal load voltage and load reactive power, as well as STATCOM parameters like voltage magnitude and reactive power injection. It calculates the STATCOM current injection and updates the load voltage accordingly. The Voltage Stability Index (VSI) is computed for both cases - with and without STATCOM - to assess the effectiveness of the compensation. The code also includes a plot that visually illustrates the voltage phasors before and after STATCOM compensation.
