This educational Live Script explores linear and nonlinear feedforward neural networks in "fitting" noisy data. It compares the trained responses of feedforward networks with various architectures, shows how to extract least squares fit parameters from a minimal linear network, and shows how to extrapolate network results to regions outside the training data region.
This script may interest students and instructors in physics and other fields new to neural network technology. 'Try this' suggestions, 'Challenges,' hyperlinks, and references are included for further exploration. Additional Live Scripts by the author are available here.
