🔹 Overview
This project presents a 3-phase balanced delta (Δ) connected network modeled using MATLAB Simscape. It is designed to help students understand the relationship between line and phase quantities in delta-connected systems.
🔹 Model Description
The Simscape model includes:
  • Three-phase AC voltage sources
  • Balanced delta-connected resistive load
  • Measurement blocks for:
  • Line currents (IR, IY, IB)
  • Phase currents (IRR’, IYY’, IBB’)
  • Line voltages (VRY, VYB, VBR)
  • Scope for waveform visualization
🔹 Key Concepts Demonstrated
  • Balanced three-phase system
  • Delta (Δ) connection characteristics
  • Relationship between line current and phase current
  • Equality of line voltage and phase voltage
  • 120° phase displacement between phases
🔹 Simulation Observations
  • Line voltage equals phase voltage
  • Line current is √3 times phase current
  • Line current is phase-shifted by 30° relative to phase current
  • System exhibits symmetrical balanced waveforms
🔹 Mathematical Relations
Line voltage:
V_L = V_Ph
Line current:
I_L = √3 × I_Ph
Phase angle relation:
I_L lags I_Ph by 30°
🔹 How to Run
  1. Open the .slx model file in MATLAB
  2. Run the simulation
  3. Observe current and voltage waveforms in Scope
  4. Compare simulation results with theoretical values
🔹 Applications
  • Power system analysis
  • Electrical machine connections
  • Industrial power distribution
  • Teaching and laboratory experiments
