Developing a Driver Monitoring System Using Model-Based Design

    Thomas Kleinhenz, Elektrobit Automotive

Model-Based Design helps to manage complete system design, implementation, test, validation and certification steps for system and software development. At Elektrobit, a proof-of-concept AUTOSAR Adaptive driver monitoring system was developed using a model-based approach. The driver monitoring system consisted of a camera system, computer vision algorithms, and a simple HMI to show the driver state. An AUTOSAR Adaptive architecture-based ECU was designed to communicate information using Ethernet interface. This presentation highlights the ease of developing such an application using MathWorks tools and shows results through a live demonstration where the driver’s presence and state are successfully detected by the system.
