    Hydrostatic Transmissions Simulations with Simscape

Design hydrostatic transmissions for heavy equipment with Simscape™. Assemble pumps, motors, valves, into a hydraulic network. Measure pressures and flow rates under nominal and faulted conditions.

Simscape helps you design heavy equipment. In this video, we're going to look at hydrostatic transmissions. Hydrostatic transmissions are common in heavy equipment because they can handle heavy loads and permit precise speed control.

In the Wheel Loader model, we have a closed-circuit hydrostatic transmission. It is composed of a variable displacement pump and a fixed displacement motor. A charge pump prevents cavitation of the main pump. And crossover relief valves prevent excessive pressure in the supply line. Combining this hydrostatic transmission with planetary gears and clutches creates a power split continuously variable transmission. The control system varies the pump displacement to control the speed of the motor shaft. You can download the model we have provided and adjust component sizes to match your design.
