Why do I get errors 9,57 on Mavericks

I upgraded my iMac to Mavericks. Now I get error 9 when booting matlab. Nothing on the web so far offers help that works. I guess I could deactivate the application and then activate it. What I've tried so far is to use a new license.lic.dat file without deactivation.

Curiously (to me, anyway) the error -9,57 message has the wrong host id for my computer. What I get through "Terminal" as directed is the correct id. So how's it happening that matlab sees something else?
