My Matlab doesn't pop up.

I downloaded MatLab from UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) WEBSTORE, I installed it. After I finished, I click on MATLAB icon, but it does not pop up, and I received the message that License Manager Error-96. I found this link: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/95122. I tried to do it, but it showed nothing. So, can you guys help me to figure out it either step by step or clearer? I really need it, because I have a lot of homework due in 2 days. Thank you!

When you went through the steps in that link, what were the results at each point? For example were you able to ping the license server?

Oh, and turn off your firewall for testing purposes.
