We just upgraded to R2014 from R2013, and the new system is extremely slow. I think the problem is that Matlab wants to execute lots of popups over a network connection. I've managed to remove some of them, but one popup keeps occurring in the editor to give me debugging suggestions... It most commonly occurs when I tab between editor and the main window, so I usually can't even read it before it disappears - but one time it complained about a variable used in a loop not being initialized. These popups take 10-15 seconds to open up so I've got to remove them.
I've already disabled "code folding" and "automatic variable and function renaming" in my editor preferences. What else should I disable?
Thank you

I have the same problem! It is annoying enough that when I debug, clicking on a variable to rename a typo, I have to wait for the popup telling me about the typo, but when I'm using remote access, windows take while to load and these popups become a nightmare!

Second that! It's very annoying, since the same info can be also retrieved by right-mouse click.
