Hello How can I force matlab2014a to wait for a EXE process to complete? It used to be possible with "isprocess" in previous versions but it seems like this function does no longer exist in 2014a. Thanks Raphael

Isn't 'isprocess' a submission from the File Exchange? If so that should work in 2014a I guess.

...
status = system(command) calls the operating system to execute the
specified command. The operation waits for the command to finish
execution before returning the exit status of the command to the
status variable.
...
To execute the operating system command in the background, include
the trailing character, &, in the command argument (for example,
'notepad &' on a Windows platform, or 'emacs &' on UNIX®). The exit
status is immediately returned to the status variable.

And like Ben says Isprocess is in the File Exchange

A related item (how to get other processes that are running) is given by the Mathworks Support Team here: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/102372-how-can-i-get-the-process-id-of-the-current-matlab-session-in-matlab-7-5-r2007b
And here's another thing that could be useful in Windows: call up device manager:
% Launch Device Manager. Use trailing ampersand, otherwise program does not continue until user closes Device Manager.
system('C:\Windows\System32\devmgmt.msc &')
