How to shrink an image without using imresize function in matlab

I've found some methods to enlarge an image but there is no solution to shrink an image.I use Nearest Neighbor method. How could I do that without using imresize function in matlab?

What is wrong with imresize ? According to the documentation it will also shrink images, and you can choose the interpolation method (which is relevant for any scaling that is not a whole-number scaling). Not only that it includes anti-aliasing controls and other handy features...
