Getpts with SnapToDataVertex on?

I'm struggling in trying to use getpts with the SnapToDataVertex functionality enabled

I wouldn't expect datacursor settings to affect anything other than datatips. Nothing in the documentation suggests it should affect getpts(). Looking at the contents of getpts.m, I see nothing that references datacursormode settings.
