sugeno -to - mamdani conversion
Show older comments
greetings all,
i solved a problem using ANFIS and clustering. The generated system is Sugeno with 15 rules. The Sugeno model has 5 inputs and 1 output.
I have seen there is a function in matlab to convert from mamdani to sugeno. Is the other way possible ? can i convert the output clusters of sugeno to membership function(s) ?
Thanks alot in Advance cedkhader

In the past, we cannot convert a Sugeno system to a Mamdani system because it will force MATLAB to perform a structural transformation that does not have an exact mathematical reverse. Today, we can convert a Sugeno system to a Mamdani system, but only through clicking the conversion button in the Fuzzy Logic Designer App as there is no command-line function like the convertToSugeno function to perform the conversion.
It is also important to understand there is an inherent loss of information that a Sugeno system and its converted Mamdani system do not produce exactly the same output across all inputs, unless the singleton output membership functions are used in the converted Mamdani system as well.
