Threshold for image segmentation ,can I use it for image detection?

if I get threshold for image segmentation can I use it for edge detection

Yes, if your foregound and background can be divided by some threshold and you can use bwperim or bwboundaries. If you have edges both above and below some background/foreground threshold then you can use threshoding alone - you'd have to use an edge filter such as edge
