Bug with default Editor Font in R2023a

4 views (last 30 days)
I just installed Matlab R2023a version and found that the default font in editor looks differently from those in R2020a.
in R2023a Editor:
In R2023a Preferences:
In R2020a it looks as it should:
Both fonts are set as "Monospased plain" Sample text in preferencies. Simple compare "T" and "0" letters in both lines, obviously in R2023a editor the font looks differently from Preferences. Is it bug and how to fix it?

Today I got answer from Matlab:
"The new Editor is using a web-based UI technology rather than Java swing. As a result, fonts are rendered differently. In addition, the default font has been changed to a more modern one. Therefore, it is not a bug, but expected behavior.
If you prefer the old font, you can get closer to it by going to "Preferences > Fonts" and adjusting the font. On Windows, picking "Courier New" will be closest to the old font."
I picked "Courier New" and it looks very similat to old Editor Font

I'm having similar issues in 2023b, font's that work fine on the desktop, and worked in the editor in previous versions, won't display in 2023b editor (Windows) whether I set it to the default desktop font or a custom font for the editor. It seems to default to consolas in most cases, I'd like to use firacode or similar though
