Merging CAD Import files

I have created a simulink model using smimport (2nd gen) to import a CAD model. After adding additional blocks to the model I decided I needed to update the CAD model. I went back into Solidworks and produced a new xml file. I would like to now merge the updates into the simulink model. I saw an example of doing this in 1st gen but cannot find documentation for 2nd gen.
