What does "idle" mean in the TIMEOUT feature definition?

I understood that in concurrent licenses, you could set a timeout period after which MATLAB key would be returned to the server if "idle" or "inactive"? But what does that mean exactly? Is a click anywhere in the MATLAB environment is considered an activity? And what type of communication between the server and client that is used to identify that the MATLAB session on a specific machine is idle?

Hi Mohamad,
As per the following MathWorks documentation, MathWorks uses a network license manager program from Flexera Software, Inc.
You can refer to the following resource provided by FLEXlm which states that licensed software is determined to be inactive when a machine is completely idle, meaning no mouse clicks, keystrokes, modal dialog boxes are occurring
I hope this helps.
