When I run the System Validation function I get the following error message in Workspace.
'Tri 3x3' is the name of the FIS I've designed.
All other simulation functions work fine.

Hi @Steve
The reason for the error message that is triggered when the System Validation button is clicked is due to the presence of a space in your FIS filename "Tri 3x3". See 1st image.
In the second image, th same FIS was saved as "SugenoType1.fis" without any spaces in the characters. When the System Validation button is clicked, the system was able to successfully compare the FIS output values to the corresponding reference validation data. You can see that the magnitude of the prediction error is at the order of .

Hi @Steve
By the way, it is a "Bug" because the error message did not you anything about the rules of naming a FIS file.
In fact, the presence of an empty space in the name of a Membership Function will also trigger an error message when the 'addRule()' command is used.
You can use the underscore "_" character to signify the a 'space' between two words for compound phrases.
For more info, refer to this question:
Example:
fis_size = mamfis;
fis_size = addInput(fis_size, [1000 2000], 'Name','flow rate');
fis_size = addMF(fis_size, "flow rate", 'trimf', [1000 1500 2000], 'Name', 'high');
fis_size = addMF(fis_size, "flow rate", 'trimf', [1000 1250 1500], 'Name', 'low');
...
rule1 = "If flow rate is high and T_approach is small then size is huge";
rule2 = "If flow rate is low or T_approach is large then size is tiny";
rule3 = "If flow rate is low and T_approach is small then size is huge";
fis_size = addRule(fis_size, [rule1 rule2 rule3]);
