Can i use battery pulse discharge data to calibrate the table-based battery model?

2 views (last 30 days)
Hello,
I am in between developing a lithium ion battery pack for thermal analysis. For this, i have taken table-based battery model. I also have DC electronic load tester which can perform pulse discharge test of the lithium ion cell. As far as i know, the HPPC test data is required to calibrate the battery cell model which is based on pulse charge and discharge of the lithium ion cell, but i only have discharging option. Can i calibrate my battery pack model with the experimental data of pulse discharge? Also, if any other option is available, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hi Sudeep. Check out this example on fitting equivalent circuit battery models to test data. The process works with whatever data you give it, but if you provide only discharge data, you will only characterize the discharge behavior. You would expect different resistance in charge and discharge operation.

Thank you for the comment. My purpose is calibrating cell model with experimental discharge data and i am focused in discharging cell at different discharge current. Is there any other way to calibrate the cell model other than "Model-based Calibration" since i am using macbook and the toolbox is not supported for MacOS. Please reply. Thank you.

Hi Sudeep. If you don't have any way to access a Windows or Linux machine, you could try using tools like Simulink Design Optimization or the Optimization Toolbox to set up the parameter estimation.
