While there have been a lot of answers on how to get matlab to stop execution using the matlab application. I have not found a way to do this for matlab online. I understand that sometimes ctrl+C would work but more often than not, it doesn't. So how do I halt an execution in matlab online in time critical situations? Even if I log off and log in again, the issue is still there. Even if I close the tab. Asking since this is the second time this has happened in class during a sit down exercise/exam and it takes 10 minutes or more for it to resolve.

You can close the browser tab, and then follow these instructions for killing the session: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/361791-matlab-online-is-not-working-for-me-it-is-showing-you-already-have-an-active-matlab-session-do-yo#answer_364904
