Show older comments
I have matlab license from my university. I wanted to download installer for matlab. But when I click on link displayed with "Download for Windows" it goes to "Your installer is downloading to your browser's download folder." but nothing downloads. I have tried with various versions and different browsers but same thing happens. Can anyone help me in installing Matlab. As of now, I am using Matlab online version.

These are AI's instructions:
Yes, it is possible to download and install MATLAB on a personal computer with a university license, provided your university has a Campus-Wide License. To access the software, you must create a MathWorks account using your university email address to be verified and receive the license. After verification, you can download the MATLAB installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install and activate the software on your personal device.
Steps to Install MATLAB on Your Personal Computer
- 1. Create a MathWorks Account: Go to the MathWorks website and create a new account using your university email address.
- 2. Create/Link Your University Account: Follow the prompts to link your university account and create a new MathWorks profile or sign in with an existing one.
- 3. Order Your License: Order your single-user license through the university's designated software shop or download portal.
- 4. Download the Installer: Once your account is linked, you'll be redirected to the download server. Download the MATLAB installer for your operating system.
- 5. Install the Software: Run the installer, select the MATLAB product and any other desired toolboxes, and proceed with the installation.
- 6. Activate and Launch: After installation, launch MATLAB for the first time and log in using your MathWorks account. You may be prompted to activate your license and can then use MATLAB offline.
If you are not successful, contact the IT department of your university or MATLAB support:

Did you look in the browser's download folder as suggested ?
This is what I additionally get from AI:
The download of the MATLAB installer can be blocked by security software, such as antivirus or firewalls, which misidentify the installer as a threat. Other reasons include a lost internet connection, the computer going into sleep mode, or network configurations like proxy servers or VPNs that block access to MathWorks servers. A corrupt installer file or a lack of necessary operating system permissions can also cause the download to be blocked.
Here is all I can offer to troubleshoot your problem:
If it doesn't work, contact the IT department of your university or MATLAB Technical support:

I had the same non-download issue yesterday when attempting to use Firefox for MacOS desktop. Switching browsers worked for me.
Note: I did not have this problem when using Firefox for Windows desktop

Same issue. Changing browsers does not work. VPN does not work. Turning off firewall and antivirus does not work. Additional tries like trying the free download manager extension also doesn't trigger the download. it is basically impossible for me to download matlab.
