Joystick block as part of windows standalone file

I built a model with a joystick block from the the Aerospace toolbox. The output from the joystick led to an xy-scope. The model worked fine in normal mode, but when I switched to external mode, the xy-plot showed nothing. Why is this and how to fix it?

My final goal is to replace the scope with a udp-legacy send block and to run the model as a standalone windows file.
