Compiling an application to run in the Windows system tray

I've been using the GUI Layouts Toolbox for a few years and find it a really great tool. Now I want to compile an application written using GUI Layouts to run as a background process in the Windows system-tray, with the GUI showing itself when requested. I can't find any guidance on how one might do this. Has anyone tried it? Any help appreciated.
