Differentiation with respect to a function

I have a function and I wan to differentiate the same with respect to cos(x).

for example:

f = ((cos(x))^2 -1)^n

f has to be differentiated with respect to cos(x).

I want to obtain the answer in terms of cosine function only as in the next step I have to differentiate the result with respect to x.
