Checkerboard for camera calibration using MATLAB toolbox

For calibrating the cameras using a black and white checkerboard, instead of white can I use any other colour ? If yes, which colour is preferred?

Any bright color is fine, but white is better. In camara calibration app, the corners are automatically detected. For the detection, white/black pattern will be prefarable.
