how to divide the range of an histogram

for example: I form histogram using atan function and its range is between [-pi/2, +pi/2]
now the question says to divide this histogram in 6 ranges i.e [-pi/2, -pi/3], [-pi/3,-pi/6].... [pi/6,pi/2]
i.e the main histogram is to be divided into 6 sub histogram using above ranges .

Integrate over the sub-intervals and divide by the interval width should give the average value for atan over that interval. That seems to be what you want.

If you're using the histogram object, I think you just want to change the BinEdges property.
