How can I convert a subsystem in a referenced model?

Good morning. I have three questions. The first. Is it possible to become a subsystem reference model that has a mask? The second. How these variables are defined? Third. If I have a subsystem in which the variables are defined by letters. How I can define these variables in the model reference? Thank you very much
