how to create a dat file using matlab?

iam new to matlab.. i have extracted features using HOG. i have 6(mean,varaiance etc) feature values for 100 images.

data = rand(100,2) ; % some random data
save 'myfile.dat' data -ascii % save to myfile.dat
load myfile.dat % load the file
doc save
