Can I access code in App Designer from the Command Window?

I'm working on an app in the App Designer, and I was wondering if it might be possible to bring the instance of that app into the Workspace such that I can access it via the Command Window. It would be cool to play with elements and code without having to run through the App Designer window.

You can specify a left hand side argument at the command line when you run your app and access it using the handle returned. For example:
>> hApp = myApp
>> hApp.Button
