How do I measure the difference between two curves that intersect at one point?

I would like to measure the difference between two curves that intersect at one point. I would think that I would need to take the absolute difference between them since they cross? Is it an issue that the two curves have different lengths? I only want to measure the area that is with in the two vertical lines. Thank you!
