Matlab interface is very slow when using VPN

When i connect my VPN, the matlab interface was slow. Both the command window and the editor would be so slow that they looked like slow-moving waves when I moved the cursor up or down.

I experienced the same problem. In my case, it helped to move the working directory to a local folder.
