A= 7 1
5 2
3 4
9 6
2 3
4 3
X= 9 7 5
Y= 6 1 2

I am not sure if this is what you wanted, but I managed to recreate what the code should be doing to get your results.
A=[7 5 3 9 2 4;1 2 4 6 3 3]'
[B,I]=sort(A(:,1),'descend')
X=(B(1:3))'
Y=A(I(1:3),2)'
