Label the binary image with bwlabel(). Get endpoints with bwmorph(). For every endpoint, if there is another endpoint within a certain distance that does not have the same label, use imline() to connect it to the closest other endpoint. Use bwconvhull() to fill in and get the convex hull of all blobs.
