2017b does not start, strange error message.

4 views (last 30 days)
I installed MATLAB 2017b yesterday and it did not start properly, so I installed it again to see if it was an installation error.
It did start correctly once but after rebooting today the same error occurs again.
At startup two error messages appear regarding these two dll files:
boost_system-vc140-mt-1_56.dll libmwservices.dll
Did anyone encounter the same problem and know how to fix this for good?
Best, Rainer

Not the same problem, but other problems. It only starts every other time I try. Every other time, it just starts and shuts down silently, except for one time when it crashed. Every other time it starts up okay but it forgets all the settings I had last time (layout, m-files that were open, etc.). I'm going to call them today, as should anyone with startup/installation problems.

My problem was caused by 2 things. MATLAB did not like the older NVidia video adapter driver, and McAfee antivirus was shutting MATLAB down as soon as it tried to launch. Updating the video adapter driver, and getting MATLAB onto the "low risk" list for McAfee fixed the problems.

I have tried out the suggestion by "Image Analyst" https://de.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/358816-2017b-does-not-start-strange-error-message#comment_489778

For me it was basically the same except I didn't need to adjust McAfee settings, just getting the newest Drivers for my NVIDIA card was enough. (Also I had to uninstall 2017b first and reinstall from scratch.)
That solves my problem, MATLAB runs also after several restarts.
Thanks! Rainer

Here are two screenshots that I made. However, my system is in german. I hope this helps with finding the error.

Same problem here. Installed twice, ran fine both times after installation, refuses to run after with the libmwservices.dll file showing as a 0kb file with a timestamp when I tried to open MATLAB. 2017b was installed because I suddenly started having strange behaviour with 2017a.

Does this mean we need a new Installation package or is this somehow related to Windows?
