convert Virtual Slide Images (VSI) to tiff

Is there an way to convert Virtual Slide Images (VSI) to tiff in matlab?

It appears that some VSI systems have entire infrastructures. The above article describes an open-source VSI related project in MATLAB, so the code would have to provide access methods to that kind of infrastructure.

However, they are using webMicroscopy server and I am not sure how to adapt this for SVI images. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using a local repository of some kind, or a different web-based repository ?

The only .vsi file extension I find at the moment appears to be Olympus Virtual Microscopy.

Thank you for this, I can access them one by one using the imagej plugin. I am helping a friend and we have the images stored on their local disk.
