Is an H-bridge not needed when using the DC motor from Simscape Powersystems?

2 views (last 30 days)
I am trying to make a DC motor model and noticed that it looks like there's built in switching for the DC motor model (simscape/power systems/specialized technology/electric drives/AC drives). I am trying to recreate this as a basis to work on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7RzKY9SFHA&t=77s He uses an H bridge but looks like his motor block is slightly different. Hard to tell since he never opened it though.
Thanks for any help in advance

I assume that you are talking about the "Brushless DC Motor Drive" block in Simscape/power systems/specialized technology/electric drives/AC drives. This block has an inverter built-in. Therefore, you do not need to add an H-bridge in Simscape when using this block. Run the command "ac7_example" to open an example of how to wire this block.
Regarding the YouTube video, I assume from the mask image that it is just a plain motor model with no switching built in.
