How can I register matlab as an automation server in linux

1 view (last 30 days)
I recently installed the students version of Matlab R2016b in my linux os (64 bit). Now for my research I want to export an Onshape CAD model to Matlab. Even though I followed the instructions as it is I still couldn't Register Matlab as an Automation server. All the instructions are given only to perform this on Windows platforms. Could someone please help me on how to get my Matlab linux version registered as an automation server.
Thank you.
Regards, Dharshana

Automation Server relies upon ActiveX, which is not generally available on Linux (and support for it is not compiled into the Mac or Linux binaries because of that.)

Dear Mr. Walter,
Thank you very much for the reply. Is there a way around it so that I can use simscape facility on linux.
Thank you.

There is no way to use Simscape Multibody Link on Linux or Mac. There is no way to use ActiveX from MATLAB on Linux or Mac.
You could use a tool such as vine, or VMWare, or Virtual Box, to run MS Windows as a program in Linux, and run MATLAB inside that virtual machine, instead of directly under Linux. It is not as nice or as quick, but when the point is just to get the work done, it is sometimes an acceptable alternative.
