Hello,
I've created some models with R2012b Matlab version, and recently (today) switched to R2017b version.
When I try to open .m or .slx file, I receive the following message when I try to open .m : "Error using open (line 145) Undefined function or variable 'settings'.
And I receive the following message when I try to open .slx model : "Error using open (line 145) Undefined variable "sltemplate" or class "sltemplate.internal.request.openModelFile"
I've attached 2 files that I tried, without success.
Can you help me on this issue ?
Thanks in advance.

This issue could be due to the 'pathdef.m' file or the custom 'startup.m' file (if exists) used by MATLAB. The default paths of MATLAB may not be configured properly on your workstation.
In order to reset them, please execute the following commands in your MATLAB command window:
>> rehash toolboxcache
>> restoredefaultpath
>> savepath
The following link gives the detailed steps to follow regarding this issue:
Please note that executing the above commands would delete all the previous path information and replace it with the factory settings. Hence, you might want to back up the old 'pathdef.m' file so that you can use other path information from it at a later period.
Please refer the following link for details about this:
