Opening the editor/debugger by double clicking a file.

Hi all.
I have downloaded Matlab 2017b (I have Windows 10). In order to associate m. files to the application, I clicked on "open with" and selected the MATLAB.exe file from the "Program files/MATLAB/2017b/bin/win64" folder.
My problem is that every time I double click on a file, MATLAB does not go to the editor/debugger, so the only way I have of opening files is starting from the "open" option within the program. In previous versions I was able to double click on a file and the program would open the file directly in the editor/debugger. Any idea of how I can go back to that?
Thanks.

Some operating systems associate file extensions with specific programs/applications, and opens a file based on that association. Below are general instructions for changing these settings:
For Windows 8, Windows 10, and if the file extension is not in a list of file extensions:
1. Right click on any .m file in Windows and select Open With.
2. Select the More Apps option to show a full list of programs installed on your computer.
3. Select MATLAB and make sure the box at the bottom is checked that says "Always use this app to open .m files"
In the file properties (right click > Properties) for any m-file does it show "Opens with: MATLAB < version >" like in the image below?
Yes, it does show like that. However, when I double click on a file, Matlab opens, but the editor with the scritp does not. Also, if I am editing a file, and I double click on another one, instead of opening a second tab in the editor, it opens a whole new Matlab window.
