Lack of functionality in online version of R2017b?

I am a beginner, using the online version of R2017b, and there seems to be a lot of missing functionality (compared not only to what I am seeing in the videos and textbook of the course I am taking, but even to what I am reading about inthe online documentation and help files).
For instance, I have no set path dialogue button in Home > Environments. Also, my command history window appears to be un-dockable (and can't be brought up by the up arrow within the command window, but only by clicking the Show History button on the ribbon). For one more example, the options available in my preferences dialogue box are a tiny subset of what should be there (according to here https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/matlab_env/preferences.html#brjh09y-3). I attached a screenshot of my preferences window.
So, is all of this to be expected? Are there any ways to work around the first to issues I mentioned? Thanks in advance.

Refer to the documentation for MATLAB Online which includes a description of some of the ways in which it differs from desktop MATLAB.

Online matlab is necessarily limited in some ways compared to the desktop version since it runs inside a browser. All the limitations you list are understandable. Importantly, they don't matter one bit for the purpose of manipulating matrices, running script, calling functions, plotting graphs, etc.
What would you change the path to when you only have access to your home directory and its subdirectories? Even in the desktop version, there's very little reason to change the path.
You're working in a browser. This has some restrictions as to what key presses can be captured.
