There are a few ways you can save your files to your desktop from MATLAB Online and MATLAB Drive:
1) In MATLAB Online, you can download any file onto your desktop by clicking the "download" button on the toolstrip (under the "Home" tab). This will download the selected file in your Folder Browser to your desktop.
2) The other method is to download the MATLAB Drive Connector http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlabdrive/ug/install-matlab-drive.html. This will create a MATLAB Drive directory on your local machine, and synchronize all the contents automatically with your MATLAB Drive/MATLAB Online. So, any changes you make to your files in any MATLAB Online session will be reflected in this directory (and vice versa).
I hope this helps!

This seems to work for individual file. However, if I select a directory with many subdirectory, the download button is disabled. Do you know any way to get around this?

Hi Anisha and David:
Anisha: To select a file, click the left mouse button on the file in your Current Folder Browser in MATLAB. Then you will be able to perform the file specific actions from the toolbar (the Download action is under the Home tab in the toolbar).
David: If you want to download multiple directories from your MATLAB Drive onto your desktop, the best thing to do is download the MATLAB Drive Connector. If you have MATLAB desktop installed on your machine, you can follow the instructions at:
You can also download and install the MATLAB Drive Connector directly from the following page:
An alternative to downloading and installing the MATLAB Drive Connector would be to zip up the folder and sub-folders into a .zip file, and then download that file onto your desktop.
Please let me know if this helps both of you.
